CANCELLED - The Louisiana Maneuvers: A Nation Prepares for War

Description:

THIS EVENT HAS UNFORTUNATELY BEEN CANCELLED, AND REGISTRATION FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.
You are invited to attend a special presentation sponsored by the Military Libraries Group of DC/SLA:  "The Louisiana Maneuvers:  A Nation Prepares for War" on Thursday, Nov 19th, from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Drexel University facility in Washington, DC.
It has been nearly 75 years since the United States Army began a special call up of the National Guard for The Louisiana Maneuvers.  This field exercise began a new method in command structure and cooperation between the regular Army and the National Guard located in every state but answering to the state governor.  The Maneuvers began with a "table top exercise" demonstrating the relationship of units.  General Marshal and General McNair both believed that we could not fight the last war, WW l all over again.  New training doctrine was needed.
The program will be presented by LTC Sharon Lacey, formerly of the US Army Center for Military History.
COST:  $10 per person -  all attendees
LOCATION: Drexel University in DC, 801 17th Street, N.W.
