The Leisure Book Club meets monthly to discuss books on a variety of topics. Past choices have included travel, Abraham Lincoln, and librarians as main characters. Participants each read a book of their own choosing on the topic of discussion.

The group meets at the Barnes and Noble near Metro Center, watch the DC/SLA listserv for exact dates.

• Several books by Miriam Monfredo including Sisters of Cain which was the most recent read
• Books by Dr. Bill Bass – non-fiction – on forensic anthropology – specific title were Beyond the Body Farm and Death’s Acre
• Neil Stephenson – Anathem – a sci-fi/fantasy recommendation for multiple generations
• Ann Rice – Out of Egypt – her new focus now that she has turned away from her vampire books it discusses Jesus – the early years
• Dan Brown – Lost Symbol – enjoyed as much for the DC descriptions as the story itself
• Stephanie Meyer’s vampire series – this reading was a confessed attempt to see what all the attraction is and to discuss with members of a younger generation.
• Diane Gabaldon – An Echo in the Bone – latest in the Outlander series
• Colum McCann – Let the Great World Spin – recommended for the quality of writing as well as the story
• David Benioff – City of Thieves – a story placed during World War II during the siege of Leningrad – also recommended for quality of writing and characters
