No Iowa caucuses, televised debates, kissing babies, political tweeting, and especially no eating in diners in New Hampshire. Washington, D.C. marks the end of summer in its own unique way: congress returns from its summer recess and life in the city gets a bit more complicated. DC/SLA, too, marks the end of summer with its own political event: the DC/SLA Board of Directors Election. But, there’s nothing complicated or difficult about our political event. Read about our stellar slate of candidates in this issue of Chapter Notes and then VOTE!
While we’re at the voting phase for DC/SLA candidates we’ve still at the nominating phase for SLA and DC/SLA awards. Read about the process and start thinking awards.

The latest issue of Chapter Notes (see link below) is all about conferences, campaigns and conversations.
DC/SLA president Mary Tally resists the summer doldrums and forges ahead with great chapter events and a look forward to the fall. You’ll read about the campaigns for DC/SLA and SLA candidates (watch for more in September).
This was also a great time for awards, accolades and adventures for DC/SLA members. How many DC/SLA members did you see cross that stage at the awards ceremony at the annual conference in Philadelphia? Abi Morgan describes the awards and the winners, who also reflect on the people who inspired them and helped to get to where they are today. There are even more accolades and awards and an excellent 4th of July adventure.
Jacquelyn Marie Erdman fills us in on the latest in knowledge management and Eileen Deegan offers insights into library strategic planning. Two DC/SLA events, the conference wrap-up and the Make-a-Connection Program, are highlighted. Lastly, check out the upcoming events and mark your calendars
