DC SLAmmers Raised Over $500 At Saturday’s AIDS Walk

DC SLAmmers Raised Over $500 At Saturday’s AIDS Walk
On October 27, 2012, a brisk and sunny Saturday morning, thousands of people gathered for the Whitman Walker Clinic’s annual AIDS Walk. A 5K trek down Pennsylvania Avenue, this year it raised over $800,000 to provide high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health care to those affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS. One of the many teams present that day was the DC SLAmmers. Comprised of librarians and MLIS students, six of us walked to support the cause (with two ghost walkers who were there “in spirit”). Additionally, our team was supported by all of those who were unable to walk, but donated to the team anyway. Together, our team raised over $500. Next year, DC SLA will return to AIDS Walk Washington and we hope you’ll walk with us.
